DICK SPOTSWOOD is the politics and government columnist for The Marin
Independent Journal. He has been the elections commentator for
KRCB-Television (PBS) Channel 22 in Rohnert Park for the past twelve years.
Dick is a former council member and three-term Mayor of the City of Mill
Valley. He served for ten years as a Director of the Golden Gate Bridge
District. He was co-chair of the Doyle Drive Commission, a member of the
Northwestern Pacific Railroad Acquisition Committee, and Chair of the
original Marin Transportation Authority. A San Francisco native, Dick is a
graduate of the University of San Francisco and its School of Law. In
private life he is a trial attorney and mediator and has lived with this
wife Joanne and their two children in Mill Valley since 1976. He is the
former president of the Rotary Club of Mill Valley, the Mountain Play
Association and the College of Marin Foundation.
JOANNE P. SPOTSWOOD is the owner of Paper Trail Press, a San Rafael,
California publisher of nationally distributed greeting cards (available at
better stationary and gift stores in the metropolitan Boston area). A former
corporate controller in the gift industry and Vice President of both
Westamerica Bank and the Bank of America, Joanne is a graduate of the
University of Santa Clara and received her MBA from the University of
California (Berkeley). She is a former Capitol Hill staff member for Rep.
Henry Helstoski (D-Bergen County New Jersey)
