Donald H. Camph
Mr. Camph is President of Aldaron Inc., a consulting firm which has provided political, policy, financing, and strategy advice on transportation related issues to a variety of private and public sector clients since 1982. Aldaron's client base includes local and regional governments, special purpose transportation agencies, the Office of the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, and major employers and commercial developers. Projects for which Aldaron, Inc. has developed funding strategies total over $5.0 billion. Mr. Camph has played key roles in a variety of major infrastructure projects, including the Los Angeles Metro Green Line, Pasadena Gold Line, the Alameda Corridor and Alameda Corridor East projects, and the St. Louis MetroLink Cross County Extension.
In August, 1992, Mr. Camph was appointed by then Congressman and now USDOT Secretary Norm Mineta to the Board of Trustees of the Mineta Transportation Institute at San Jose State University, on which he continues to serve. From August, 1989 to October, 1991, Mr. Camph served as a special advisor to the US Department of Transportation, helping to develop the DOT's National Transportation Policy and provided bipartisan insights as to the "California perspective" on the "ISTEA" legislation reauthorizing the Federal highway and mass transit programs.
In 1985, Mr. Camph was a co?founder of the California Institute for Technology Exchange (CITÉ) and serves on its Board of Directors. CITÉ is a non?profit organization which was created to facilitate the sharing of innovative approaches, especially in the transport sector, between public and private sectors in the United States and their counterparts in foreign countries. He began his career in transportation when he joined the staff of the BART Research Department in 1972. In 1977 he became one of the first employees of the newly formed Los Angeles County Transportation Commission, where he served first as Director of Policy and then as Rail Transit Development Coordinator until 1982.
Mr. Camph holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from MIT and a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Michigan. He has also done post?graduate work in the Public Policy doctoral program at Michigan. He is married, and his interests include jazz, the French language, baseball, international politics, and bicycling.
